![]() Origins This plant was considered sacred in ancient times. Hippocrates recommended it particularly against headaches and eye problems. It grows throughout Europe and Asia, and is cultivated most widely in the south of France, in northern Italy and, more recently, in China. The trees in this area are pruned to encourage the branches to spread horizontally in order to facilitate gathering the lovely yellow flowers.
