Styrax Styrax (Liquidambar orientalis)

Origins
A medium sized tree, native to Asia Minor where it grows wild.

Essential oil
Steam distillation of crude Styrax balsam produces a viscous liquid, which varies in colour from pale yellow to dark brown. It has warm, heavy aroma.

Most common uses
  • Powerful diuretic

  • Combats pulmonary problems

  • Good for certain skin conditions, such as sores and abscess.
Tangerine Tangerine (Citrus reticulata)

Origins
The tangerine trees grow in Florida, Texas and California, where it is the American variety of the East Asian mandarin.

Essential oil

The essential oil is extracted from the peel of the ripe fruit by machine expression. It is a highly vitaminized oil, orange in colour with a lovely fresh smell.
